Nelson Mandela
Dec 2013
For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others – Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
It is hard to comprehend the loss of a man like Nelson Mandela… It’s almost unsettling; The thought that someone so great, who affected so many and changed so much, could be gone in an instant. The significance of his contribution to South Africa, and the world, can hardly be weighed in our frame of reference, and his name will remain in the history books for a very long time. The world is in pain, especially right here at home. We’ve all lost a father, a brother and a friend. He showed us the way when all seemed lost, he showed us the light when all was dark… He was selflessness personified.
I feel though, that it would be selfish to ask any more of Mandela. He gave so much to so many, more than anyone else has ever given. It seems almost surreal, the power that one man had over the world. The difference is obvious though; Love. Never has someone loved so fiercely that the entire world stood behind him, and changed around him, because of it. Never before has someone who has been so wronged forgiven so many, with the greatest of ease, showing humanity what it means to be free. When he was released from Robben Island, after 27 years of Incarceration, he showed the world that he not only cast off his chains, but cast off all hatred as well.
Even after he had changed the world, he continued to use his influence to better the lives of every single person he touched. He never stopped giving, not once. Mr Mandela, we say thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, with all that we have, we say thank you for showing us how to be free.
From everyone at Citton Cars, we wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the bereaved Mandela family, and offer them strength through their time of grief. We will always hold you in our hearts, Madiba, Father of our Nation. We love you, Tata.
